At what company growth stage do you prefer to invest?
SAS Investors works with seed- and early-stage companies in which, preferably, we are the first institutional investors.
Does it matter where my company is located?
SAS Investors works with management teams based in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region. In doing so, we are able to work side-by-side with each portfolio company while capitalizing on our extensive market familiarity and far-reaching network of key industry leaders.
What level of support can I expect from SAS Investors?
Aside from SAS Investors' hands-on involvement, abundant resources, and extensive network of industry leaders, we will invest over the life cycle up to $3 million with an initial investment ranging from several hundred thousand dollars up to $1.25 million. Additionally, professional services such as legal, accounting, recruiting, marketing, public relations, and business development can be arranged through our strategic network of third-party relationships.
What's the typical company/concept profile of an SAS Investors investment?
SAS Investors invests in technology-based companies and concepts that address market problems of significant size. We look for proven mature technologists and entrepreneurs with visionary, differentiated, and defensible concepts that target large and growing markets of at least $1 billion. Our strong interest in seeking out technologically differentiated and sustainable concepts precludes us from focusing on investments based solely on "first-to-market" advantage.
Where do Canaan, Rho, and Sevin Rosen come into the picture?
Canaan, Rho, and Sevin Rosen are SAS Investors' Venture Capital Partners. Each of these highly respected firms has invested significant capital in the SAS Investors fund as well as co-investing in numerous SAS Investors portfolio companies. In addition our LP's provide SAS Investors and its portfolio companies with a wealth of experience, resources, and strategic relationships invaluable to any early-stage company's success.
What's the best way to tell you more about my company/concept?
The easiest way to move forward is to send us a brief written proposal by e-mail, regular mail, or fax. Based on this proposal, we can quickly assess if your company or concept meets our current investment criteria. Please send a short (3-5 page) executive summary explaining the opportunity you propose, including a description of the concept/product/service, customer profiles, market size and profile, current address and contact information, management team backgrounds, and other significant differentiating factors. We'll also need competitive information and brief financial projections. After we've reviewed your proposal and determined whether SAS Investors can be of assistance, we will contact you to request further information or to arrange a meeting.
What about confidentiality? My company/concept is highly proprietary and I want to protect it.
We're sensitive to your intellectual property concerns and it is of utmost importance to us that we keep all discussions confidential. However, as a matter of policy, we do not sign non-disclosure agreements. Again, we understand that your ideas are highly proprietary and we appreciate you wanting them to remain that way. |
